"Dear VienneMilano,

After years of being in a relationship with the same guy, my [ex] boyfriend and I have decided to go our separate ways. While I know that time heals all, getting over this one has been harder than expected especially after all the time we spent together. A girlfriend recommends retail therapy as a solution. In fact, she tells me that each time she goes through a breakup, she buys new lingerie — starting with thigh highs! Although I have never heard of this, I am opened to trying new options. Since I’ve never purchased lingerie for myself, I don’t know where to start. What do you recommend I do?"

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this - no matter, you have to believe that life will get better. It’s not your fault that things did not work out. Regardless of what happened, you now must focus on moving on! While it's true, retail therapy is a way to getting over him (or her), there are other things you can do too. Here are my top ways on getting over a break up:

Don't Call That Man:

Sure, it's possible to stay friends with your ex. However, it'll take some time to get there. No matter what, don't call him during the first few weeks of your break up. Break the habit cold turkey! Here’s the book I’d recommend:

Go out with your friends

Grab a drink and meet new people. This is the perfect time to try something new and strengthen your relationship with those who will not turn their back on you. Getting out of your daily routine and your house will remind you of all the fun things you can do.

Plan a girl's night out

Girls nights are a must regardless of a breakup. Time with those you cherish will without a doubt bring a good time. Whether you drink wine and watch a movie or just sit and chat, setting aside time to hang out with friends is vital. Most importantly, talk it out with your friends and give yourself time to wallow.

Get a haircut

So, you’re off to a new start, do it with a new look. When you look good, you’ll feel good. This will also stop reminding you of the past, as your new self will feel ready to take on the world!

Go Shopping

Buy yourself new lingerie! Not all lingerie is designed to show. In fact, lingerie should be about celebrating you and your body (regardless of shape and size). For many, thigh highs are a sure way to boost confidence. I’d recommend ISABELLA Black Sheer thigh highs to start as they are versatile and can be worn whenever you feel.

Confidence is sexy, and a little bit of self-pampering goes a long way, which is why I believe these methods work. Who knows? With your new style and new-found confidence, you may even find yourself meeting the right one!
