Our intern submitted this, and once again while it's not our usual piece, we were so touched by it that we decided to publish it. For internship opportunities, please e-mail us at ciao@viennemilano.com:

Not everyone can say that they were able to work in the middle of a great city, for an amazing and refreshing luxury hosiery line, with a cool and genuine boss that never made you go out to take coffee orders for everyone else, and I am extraordinarily thankful for that. Working for VienneMilano this summer was an incredible learning experience. This internship was completely hands on and a lot of fun, and I had the great pleasure of working side by side with Vienne Cheung, a great mentor. For every little task I was to complete, Vienne made sure that she explained the reasoning and goals behind it, to give me a better understanding of what was going on.

One of the hardest assignments for me was learning how to be more straight forward and blunt in my writing. I am used to writing extremely long analytical papers about a two-sentence quote from some big shot back in the day, so simplifying my writing proved to be a bit challenging. On the other end of the spectrum, one of the easiest assignments would have to have been working with social media. I started in the ancient days of MySpace and Xanga at a very young age, and since then I have always enjoyed all the new social media platforms. Being able to log into accounts like Twitter and Facebook for work purposes was icing on the cake!

My fashion internship experience

Not only did I discover more about the world of marketing, business, and fashion with this internship, but also, I discovered more about myself. If it hadn’t been for this summer, I wouldn’t have been inspired to go after something that I’ve always loved, but have been afraid of trying. Seeing the results of all the hard work Vienne has put into her line has made me realize that you can accomplish whatever you want, as long as you are willing to put in the hard work. I have learned that so much time and effort is put into even the smallest of things. From the background color, to the graphics for the blogs- there is a lot of work put into the things that I normally take for granted when looking at. I have also learned not to be afraid to ask questions. When you ask questions, you are being careful and making sure that you understand fully the task at hand.

What I enjoyed the most about working at VienneMilano (besides the cool beverage machine that made the best hot chocolate!), was that I was always encouraged to be creative. I was given a lot of freedom to create blog images, outfit inspiration, social media posts, and much more. I was always learning and creating, and it was so incredibly rewarding to see something that I have worked so hard on appear on the website. This internship has been a blessing to me, and I will always cherish my time with VienneMilano! I truly recommend all dedicated fashionistas who want real, raw and hands on experience, behind the scenes of the fashion industry, to apply for a VienneMilano internship, as it is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.
